Deas Island tunnel
Tunnel in Vancouver, BC, has rectangular cross-section to be supported on sand fill jetted under tunnel elements to form uniform support; tunnel is built up of six elements each approximately 344 ft long, 76 ft wide, and 25 ft high; reinforced concrete elements, properly protected by waterproofing membrane which covers all surfaces, will provide four traffic lanes, each 12 ft wide with vertical clearance of 14 ft. (see also also unsigned articles in ASCE -- Proc v 83 (J Structural Div) n ST6 Nov 1957 Paper n 1436 44 p; Eng News Rec v 160 n 21 May 22 1958 p 34-6, 39)
