Some structures involving unusual design problems
(1) Cable loading gantry at Erith, Kent; special construction for loading of ocean cable to ship, as cable was assembled with booster units, in 40 mi lengths; (2) cable loading structure, Southampton had to overbridge nine railway tracks and two roads; 30-40 ft long light-welded girders used; (3) difficult pile foundation problem; stanchions were brought into building over pile groups, and first floor steelwork cantilevered to front and side; (4) placing opening roof over pier buildings.
