Recent shaftwork in North Staffordshire
Several interesting features of shaftwork have been accomplished in North Staffordshire Area, Great Britain; they include major sinking of 24 ft diam concrete lined shaft to depth of 1137 yd and deepening of 20 ft shaft to similar depth; at another coal mine, 12 ft shaft is being widened to 20 ft while still retaining cage in shaft, etc; technique is outlined.
