Calorific value of Jharia coals as calculated by formulae
Formulas based on approximate analysis, without considering specific nature of coal, give unreliable results; calorific value of volatile matter of coal of same geological age and history appears to be approximately constant; formula based on this theory has given satisfactory results. (See also Min and Geol Inst India -- Trans v 26 Part 4 June 1932 p 277-93 (discussion) p 293-307; Iron and Coal Trades Rev v 125 n 3364 Aug 19 1932 p 276 and 77)
