Calorific value of Jharia coals as calculated by formulae
Formulas based on approximate analysis, without considering specific nature of coal, give unreliable results; calorific value of volatile matter of coal of same geological age and history appears to be approximately constant; formula based on this theory has given satisfactory results. (see also - discussion p 293-307; Iron and Coal Trades Rev v 125 n 3364 Aug 19 1932 p 276 and 77; Colliery Guardian v 145 n 3739 Aug 26, 1932 p 382-4)
