Flow in sharp corner
Flow in V-shaped open channel is studied in Reynolds number regime where laminar and turbulent flow can coexist; narrow corner produces relatively thick laminar sublayer which permits insertion of measuring apparatus for its study; flow can be divided into three distinct regions -- laminar, transition and turbulent -- approximately along lines of equal velocity; transition region is characterized by intermittent turbulence, especially near turbulent limit; some of turbulent properties which characterize transition and turbulent region are shown and mechanism of instability is hypothesized.
