Fire-resistive ceilings can protect penetrated floors
Results of tests performed by Fire Prevention Research Institute showed that integrity of fire resistance may be improved by means of fire-resistive ceilings when openings (known as poke-throughs) are made to service floor-mounted telephone and electrical outlets, generally ranging in size from 1 1/2 to 5 in. in diam.
