Vibration of conical shells subjected to torsion
Analytical and experimental study was performed to predict dynamic behavior of conical frustum loaded in torsion; analysis was based upon linear Donnell-type shell equations; longitudinal and circumferential inertia terms were neglected; Galerkin method was used to obtain infinite frequency determinant for resulting equilibrium equations; determinant was truncated and solved on digital computer for resonant frequencies and modal shapes; experimental vibrational frequencies and modal shapes were obtained for isotropic conical frustum loaded by static torsional moment; experimental data were in fair agreement with analysis.
