Axisymmetric free vibration analysis of conical shells
AbstractA simple finite element method is presented for the axisymmetric free vibration analysis of conical shells with uniform or varying wall thickness. The method is based on an analogy with a beam on elastic foundation, where the foundation modulus and beam flexural rigidity are replaced by appropriate parameters pertaining to the shell under consideration. The technique is attractive for implementation on a microcomputer and with few elements it gives good results which compare well with other solutions.
