Experimental studies on rotation of deep rigid foundation models subjected to vertical and horizontal loads
Wooden models were embedded in dry sand compacted to medium density with thin layers of color sand alternating thick layers of plain sand; effect of weight of foundation and depth of embedment on rotation; studies were two-dimensional and tests were conducted in narrow tank with transparent side; tests were conducted with horizontal load increased in steps to failure with constant vertical load; axis of rotation was determined through measurement of horizontal displacements of model.
