Pressure fluctuations in reattaching flow
Wall-pressure fluctuations are measured behind plate fixed normal to wall, and spanning test section of water tunnel; two plates with ratios of heights to duct width 0.112 and 0.161 are used; Reynolds number based on duct width is 2.5×106; fluctuations have maximum rms intensity at point approximately three-quarters of way along recirculating flow; evidence is presented for existence of inner recirculation behind deflecting plate; it extends over approximately one-third of main recirculation region; limitations of measurement imposed by electrical instrumentation, and experimental conditions are described.
