Investigation of vibrating slope method for measuring concrete workability
In test method, given weight of concrete is consolidated in container at upper end of sloping trough or channel; wall at lower end of container is then removed, and whole assembly is vibrated; time required for half of initial weight of concrete to flow down channel under vibration is used as measure of workability; two series of tests were made; in first series two mixtures were proportioned with 6-in. maximum size aggregate to have widely different degrees of workability; results of second series, in which 3- and 1 1/2-in. maximum size aggregate was used, indicated test to be applicable to mixtures with maximum size aggregates up to 6 in.
