Construction of 64-unit addition to Bahia Hotel, San Diego, Calif, is described; feature is setting 8 in. thick floor and roof slabs of room-size dimensions, on exterior and dividing 8 in. thick concrete block walls, for their support; heavier end walls of building have 8×8×16 split block, using yellowish-tan colored matrix in block mix; "combed Bloc" was used for wing walls dividing individual balconies of each unit; unit has vertical striations on surface which contrast with more rugged broken texture of exterior walls.
