Long-term deformation characteristics of lytag lightweight-aggregate concrete
Description of tests in axial compression and deflection; comparisons are made with gravel concretes made from London-area aggregates; details are given of shrinkage measurements which show that under certain conditions shrinkage can be delayed, even though concrete is drying out; this delayed shrinkage is apparently due to water reservoir within aggregate migrating to surrounding matrix to take place of evaporated water until transfer is insufficient to balance that being lost; test results show that lower creep occurs and that total deformation of two kinds of concrete is not significantly different.
