A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Method for calculating crack widths and crack spacings in concrete members reinforced with modern deformed bars; method is based on observation that stress distribution in tensile zone of reinforced concrete member is not uniform; calculations based on assumption that concrete behaves as elastic material indicate that tensile stresses are present between two adjacent cracks primarily inside circular area; spacing and width can be determined from theoretically calculated stress distributions if it is assumed that tensile crack will extend until average stress at root of crack becomes compressive. (In Swedish with English summary)
