Inelastic torsional buckling of H-columns
Influence of residual stresses on both torsional and flexural buckling strength of structural steel members are examined; for inelastic torsional buckling, it was necessary for residual stresses to satisfy one more equilibrium condition than those that are required for consideration of flexural buckling; when this additional condition is imposed, well-known "reduction in elastic torsional buckling load" due to presence of residual stresses disappears; it was found that torsional buckling strength depends not only upon column dimensions, but also upon yield stress level of material.
