Inelastic lateral-torsional buckling of beam-columns

Procedure for determination of inelastic lateral-torsional buckling strength of steel wide-flange beam columns is presented; beak columns are subjected to axial thrust and to moments applied at one end only; end-moments cause bending about strong axis of members, and effects of initially present symmetric thermal residual stresses are included in analysis; two simultaneous differential equations with variable coefficients are derived, and corresponding finite difference equations are presented; critical end moments are obtained when value of characteristic buckling determinant becomes zero.
