Expansive cement -- New approach to reducing concrete cracking
Expansive cement has been developed by Chemically Prestressed Concrete Corp, Van Nuys, Calif; cement causes concrete to expand during first two or three days, stretching steel and putting concrete into slight compression; action is caused by sulfoaluminate admixtures using limestone, bauxite and gypsum to form anhydrous calcium sulfoaluminate; maximum value of expansion is 0.04 to 0.05% and does not bend forms.
