Earthquake response of appendage on multi-story building
Approximate method of analysis of seismic effects on appendages located on top of multistory buildings which are subjected to base acceleration corresponding to N-S component of El Centro 1940 earthquake is based on forced response of separate two degree of freedom systems, one for each normal mode of building; response spectra for two degree of freedom system are included to facilitate use of this method; comparison of results is made with accurate solution and more approximate solution using single degree response spectra.
