Reconstruction of Garigliano bridge (former Auteuil viaduct)
New 208-m long bridge has spans 58+92+58 m supported on two river piers and abutments; it carries 19-m roadway, and two 3-m sidewalks, as well as water, gas, and steam mains; superstructure consists of six plate web girders of height varying from 2.13-m at abutments to 4.02-m at piers; roadway is 20-m thick reinforced concrete slab; uninterrupted traffic was maintained during construction by building new bridge in two parallel halves, first of which was put into service after demolition of half of old bridge.
