New lift bridges over Brussels maritime canal
Standardized superstructure consists of two reinforced concrete portal frames standing 13.90-m apart; their 2.30×3.90×50.00-m high pylons are completely enclosed and house electromechanical equipment and counter-weights; frames are joined at two levels by cross beams; 11.60×35.00-m long orthotropic plate steel deck carries vehicular roadway and sidewalks, and is designed for 100-ton vehicle trains; deck weighs only 150-tons which enables reducing number of hoisting cables to 16; deck is operated by two separate synchronized motors controlled from cabin suspended from one of cross beams.
