Composition studies on asphalt cements -- Progress report
Review of information leading to development of new adsorption procedure for separation of petrolenes extract obtained from normal hexane extraction of asphalt cements; study was made to evaluate chemical structures that are obtained for four different components separated by prescribed technique, and designated as paraffinic-naphthenic (PN), light aromatic (LA), heavy aromatic (HA) and hexasphaltenes (HX); it was found that Van Nes-Van Westen method had limitations probably because of its empirical nature, but Corbett densimetric procedure was more useful.
