Elasto-plastic response of timoshenko beams
Method for computing elasto-plastic dynamic response of Timoshenko beams (i.e., effects of shear deformation and rotatory inertia included) is presented; method uses lumped parameter model; effects of interactions between bending moment and shear force on yielding behavior are taken into account by generalization of plastic potential theory; numerical results obtained involved following variables -- form of interaction (yield) curve, support, conditions, span length, and web-thickness of cross section; it is shown that influence of shear deformation could be substantial even for beams of quite usual proportions.
