Stability of bar under eccentric follower force
Uniform cantilevered bar subjected at free end to eccentric, compressive follower force is considered; it is shown that, for cross-sections having two axes of symmetry and vanishing warping rigidity, stability may be lost only by bending-torsional flutter; in case of nonvanishing warping rigidity, either bending-torsional flutter or bending-torsional buckling may occur, depending on parameters of system.
