Inelastic strut compressed by follower force
Example of two-degree-of-freedom strut obtained as combination of F.R.Shanley and H. Ziegler models is dealt with to study stability of equilibrium of structural systems subjected to nonconservative forces; stress-strain relationship in deformable elements of strut is assumed bilinear with perfectly elastic unloading, and time-independent; general equations of motion subsequent to perturbation of equilibrium are given.
