Cracking and bond resistance in high strength reinforced concrete beams, illustrated by photoelastic coating
Application of photoelastic coating (photostress method) to concrete beam, reinforced with two nontensioned prestressing strands, so as to illustrate micro and visible cracking; deflections and crack widths at tensile face and at level of steel are shown and photostress pictures are presented at various loadings, depicting cracking during three loading cycles; effect of excellent bond between steel and high strength concrete is illustrated; comparison is made with concrete beam of same dimensions but reinforced with four non-tensioned prestressing wires.
