Shrinkage and deflection of composite prestressed concrete beams
Reinforcement in cast-in situ concrete of composite beam restrains shrinkage of concrete and reduces magnitude of differential shrinkage; restraint induces tensile stresses, and net effect of reinforcement is transfer of stresses from precast concrete component to cast-in situ concrete component of composite section; differential shrinkage stresses in prestressed composite concrete beam with reinforced cast-in situ concrete component can be calculated by modified Morsch method; effect of reinforcement is demonstrated experimentally by time-dependent deformations of series of prestressed composite concrete beams.
