Job-keyed equipment speeds runway pours
To pave 50 acres of overwater runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport, radio remote-controlled concrete mixing plant delivered 54,000 cu yd of concrete into chain of high-speed belt conveyors up to 400 ft in length; 2 in. diam air and electric vibrators work concrete around reinforcement; screeds of basic 3 × 3 ft by 32 ft wide truss, which can be extended, follow concrete placing crews and finishes deck to 1/8 in. tolerance.
