A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Problem of dynamic bending of elastic pin-ended column is studied using large deflection theory and including axial inertia terms; equations are derived for motion of column that is initially slightly curved, with one end displaced axially toward other end at constant speed; novel feature of results is that in some cases lateral deflection curves are bimodal.
