Dynamic response of elastic-viscous-plastic columns
Theoretical investigation of dynamic response of 1-dimensional columns, loaded concentrically by compressive or tensile pulse at one end and fixed against longitudinal motion at other; material property of column is represented by idealized elastic-viscous-plastic law; partial differential equations governing 1-dimensional motion are formulated and transformed into system of ordinary differential equations by method of characteristics; result of response computation is presented.
