Joining of two half arches; anchorage system and method of closure; arches were joined by lowering both until they were in contact on bearing pin at center; achieved by releasing cables connected to end posts, so allowing half arch to rotate outward and downwards about main bearings supporting it as base of pylon; closure was completed Aug. 19, 1930.
