Chicago municipal airport fire
Two hangars and more than 30 planes were burned on June 25, 1930; loss estimated at $1,000,000; conclusion that this was essentially gasoline fire, occurring in building of combustible construction, large area, and flammable contents; no automatic means of extinguishment had been provided and there was no opportunity to use first aid hand appliances to advantage.
