Plover Cove water scheme for Hong Kong and its background; investigation, design work and progress of construction; prominence is given to special problems arising from creating freshwater reservoir in inlet of sea, (salinity, biology, closure and effects of weather) as well as to problems associated with foundation, abutments and design of dam; descriptions are included of Lower Shing Mun dam which has special intakes using inflatable neoprenecoated nylon weirs, multi-purpose tunnel aqueducts, pumping stations, treatment works and remote supervisory system incorporating use of working mimic diagram panel.
