Llyn Celyn (Tryweryn reservoir) of Liverpool Corporation Water Works
Details of water works near Bala in North Wales; works include dam forming reservoir 2 1/3 mi long and 1 mi wide, impounding 17, 780 million gal of water for regulation of flow to Afon Tryweryn and then to River Dee to allow abstraction from river at Huntington, some 70 mi downstream of dam, of up to 65 million gpd; also power house with four hydroelectric generators providing electricity to Grid System and road diversion about 4 1/2 mi long; draw-off tunnel, originally used for diverting river, is of horseshoe cross-section, excavated partly in tunnel and partly in open cut; it has equivalent diameter of 14.4 ft.
