Unusual bridge launching truss
British-built aluminum launching truss has 200-ft span for launching 180-ton concrete beam 165 ft long; truss is lattice girder of triangular cross-section 15-ft deep, horizontal centers of top booms being also 15-ft; it was designed to carry two 90-ton rolling loads at 160-ft minimum centers, each load being distributed to eight pairs of wheels supported on longitudinal flange incorporated in bottom boom.
