Operational method for pin-jointed trusses
Operational method is developed to analyze plane multibay indeterminate pin-jointed trusses; introducing concept of constituent bay or unit and defining physical matrix, called eigenmatrix, which is characteristic of unit, definite recurrence equation is obtained; standard current eigenmatrix can be determined from boundary conditions at both ends of truss; typical numerical example proves method to be effective; method has been extended to more complex trusses involving skew, multistoried, and three-dimensional; method can avoid very large size inverses; difficulty in it is that operational matrices increase their size as unit becomes complicated.
