Hydraulic model experiments on tidal current at Nagoya harbor
Small models were made of mortar and tide was reproduced by pneumatic tide generator; flow pattern in harbor and maximum current velocity at opening of breakwater were observed for three widths of opening in four geographical configurations; experiments clarified that tidal locus is generally very flat ellipse, major axis of which is parallel to axis of bay; current velocity at opening varies nearly sinusoidally, being delayed as long as one fourth of tidal period from water level.
