Construction of Nagoya harbor storm-tide-preventing breakwater
Geology at construction site of breakwater presented highly unstable foundation for breakwater; in order to improve soft clay formation, sand drain method was employed; rubble mound was constructed on improved layer and breakwater was built by settling reinforced concrete caissons on mound, whole being thus composite breakwater.
