Demag pile hammers
Driven with compressed air at 100 to 114 lb. per sq. in., or with steam at 114 to 156 lb.; 8-in. cylinder, 16-in. stroke, 240 blows per min.; with mean pressure 128 lb. on striking piston, performance amounts to about 1,880,000 ft. lb. per min.; sinking resistance of piles is low with series of quickly repeated blows, because driven parts keep moving; other types, giving intermittent heavy blows, tend to damage piles and sheet piling.
