Characteristic redundants used for analyzing statically indeterminate structures
Orthogonal functions are commonly used in solution of vibration problems; to lesser degree such functions have been applied to static analysis, as, plate analysis and determination of beam deflections by trigonometric series; in this paper, forces acting on relatively simple structures are reduced to characteristic forces which are orthogonal, and methods of analysis are discussed.
