Hydraulic design of Columbia River basin navigation locks
Design features of Bonneville, Connerville, Dalles, Ice Harbor, and McNary locks; Ice Harbor lock has 100 ft lift; John Day lock will be even higher with 113 ft lift; improvements in filling systems are reflected by almost complete lack of turbulence in lock chambers of McNary and Dalles locks as compared to very turbulent condition in Bonneville lock; model studies indicate less turbulence in Ice Harbor lock.
