Chicago extends subway under La Salle street station
Problems encountered in tunneling under compressed air on section of subway which passes under La Salle Street Railroad Station; in order to counterbalance settlement of building columns, they were supported by jacks so that settlement even of 20 in. could be overcome without damage to structure.
