Gantry forms build soap Lake Siphon
System of railmounted gantries that carry movable forms is building 2 2 1/3-mi Soap Lake siphon of Columbia Basin irrigation project; contract involves 8252 ft of 22-ft diam pipe lined with cylinder of 1/4-in. steel plate, and 4632 ft of 25-ft diam reinforced pipe, unlined; slip forms are held in place during concrete pouring by combination of hydraulic and screw jacks, also used in stripping.
