Illinois will spend $18,000,000 for maintenance of highway system during 1950; maintenance of wearing surface of rural pavements shows greatest cost increase which jumped from $1, 286,000 in 1939 to $7,500,000 in 1949; maintenance costs for other than wearing surfaces, between 1939 and 1949 have about doubled.
