Extracted steel H-Piles found in good conditions
Two steel H-Piles, driven several years ago for test purposes were extracted recently by Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corp; one pile had been driven in swamp in Louisiana, and other in harbor at Houston, Tex; no measurable corrosion was found on Louisiana pile; Texas pile which was over 12 yr in mud and water was corroded; average corrosion rate was 0.0026 in. per yr on flanges.
