Furniss mine was operated intermittently until 1906 as gold mine; scheelite discovered later; Bureau of Mines drilled 12 holes totaling 1786.6 ft, examined and sampled underground workings, excavated by bulldozer and hand 3155 lin ft of trenches, and collected numerous samples for assay; best scheelite showing found in underground exposures of Furniss mine.
