A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Novel design and construction features to expedite powerhouse completion in Yamuna hydroelectric scheme, India, are described; unconventional methods used in design and construction of powerhouses included commencing superstructure columns before full concreting of substructure, provision of steel cross beams for stiffening columns, making joints in reinforced-concrete cross beams, providing hollow concrete over scroll case and making steel trusses as roof-supporting structures.
