Disadvantages of precast beams, used in slatted flooring in cattle sheds, each of which was designed to carry whole widely-varying live load; method is presented for linking separate slats with view to distributing live load; tests showed that this results in sharing of load, thereby permitting considerable saving in dimensions, weight and reinforcement.
