Weather resistance of porcelain enamels
Exposure test of porcelain enamels at seven representative sites in continental United States was initiated by U S Bureau of Standards and Porcelain Enamel Institute in 1956; after 7 yr all specimens were returned to Bureau and changes in gloss and color determined; changes were found to be different at all exposure sites except Pittsburgh and New Orleans; most severe changes occurred for specimens exposed at Kure Beach, 80 ft from ocean, while least change occurred for specimens exposed at Los Angeles; differences in behavior of specimens correlated with relative humidity and pH of suspended particulate matter at different sites.
