Computer tackles some drainage problems
How theoretical and computer solutions compare in hydrologic studies that estimate capillary flow, drainage of flat land, and seepage surface on hillside drainage; in drainage system analyzed open drains are equally spaced in sloping land; these drains reach down to impermeable layer; equilibrium water table level is attained as uniform simulated rainfall infiltrates ground surface and reaches open drains; thin film of water covers bottom of drains; drains are parallel to slope and are considered to be of infinite length, giving rise to two-dimensional flow.
